Old Text >>> Reword>> B'nai Israel Congregation is a small, charismatic Jewish community. Home to an annual kugel cooking contest and a Beatles Shabbat, regular mahjongg tournaments and a guitar-playing Rabbi, B'nai Israel is not only a house of prayer, but a center of Jewish life. Private Bar and Bat Mitzvah lessons for students complement a weekly Sunday School program; a monthly Scholars program invites local speakers to Shabbat services. Groups such as the Kavanotes, the Sisterhood, the Men's Club, and BBYO are open to all congregants. Services are conducted in both Hebrew and English.
What is Conservative Judaism?
B'nai Israel Congregation identifies itself as a Conservative Jewish synagogue. In short, the Conservative Jewish movement is about embracing modern ideas and flexibility while preserving tradition. Many Conservative Jews practice or follow some customary laws, but adapt the requirements of these laws to meet contemporary challenges.
