I spoke during the Holy Days, of God telling Abraham to journey with his son to an unknown destination, "take yourself to a place that I will show you." Abraham and Sarah and others got on the Jewish Soul Train. They had courage to venture into an unmapped future.
We can continue the fall holiday celebration this week. Thursday morning, we observe Shemini Atzeret, the 8th day of gathering. Yiskor is part of the service. Kiddush will follow the service.
Thursday night is Simhat Torah; we celebrate our finishing the Book of Deuteronomy, the fifth and last book of the Torah. Then we begin Genesis, chapter 1 yet again, The cycle of Torah reading begins anew. Join us for this special holy moment. Everyone will be called to the Torah. Bring the kids. We begin at 6.30 pm.
Mazel Tov to Dr Todd Berliner and Dana Sachs on their son, Sam, becoming a Bar Mitzvah. Sam will lead services Friday night at 8.00 pm and again on Shabbat morning. Services begin at 8.30 AM.
The unveiling of the stone of Benjamin D'Lugin Sr. will take place at Bnai Israel Cemetery at 1.30 pm on Sunday, September 29.
